String Santa Ornament

Instructions:

1. Blow up the balloon slightly larger than a baseball. Pour the Stiffy  into a bowl. Unwind some crochet cotton and dip it into the Stiffy, leaving cotton still attached to the ball. Wrap the thread firmly and evenly around the balloon in every direction, criss-crossing for a lacy effect. let thread unwind freely as you go, and make sure thread goes through the Stiffy before you wind it around the balloon. When you have the effect you desire, bring the string up to the balloon knot and tie, leaving a 24" piece to tie it up to hang dry. Allow to dry overnight. Pop the balloon and pull out through top.

2. Cut a large triangle from from red felt and shape around top for a hat. Cut a 1" strip of white felt to go around it for a band. Fold it over as pictured and glue. Glue a 1" Pom Pom to the end.

3. Cut 6" lengths of curly hair. Gather them in groups, tie an overhand knot in the middle and glue around the face as pictured.

4. Cut 2" "nickel" size circles from pink felt. Glue in position for cheeks. Cut a small red mouth and glue in position.

5. Glue a group of curly hair to the back of a Pom Pom and glue in position for nose and mustache.
