Pumpkin Costume From A Garbage Bag This quick and easy costume takes only minutes to assemble! Jack-O'-Lantern garbage bag or leaf bag Cut the bottom out of the garbage bag. Reinforce the cut edge with tape. Turn the top edge of the bag down 2" and tape to make a casing. Cut a vertical slit in the casing and reinforce with tape. Thread the drawstring through the hold. Cut armholes on the sides of the bag and reinforce with tape. Dress the child in sweat pants or tights so you won't have tape sticking to bare skin. Turn the bag inside out and upside down. Working on the bottom edge around the top of the child's legs, gathering as you go. Turn the bag up, put the child's arms in the holes, stuff, and tighten the drawstring. Cut leaves out of green felt and attach them from the underside to the shoulders with safety pins. Hot glue fall leaves to a headband or make a "stem" hat from green felt. For the stem, glue the felt into a cylindrical shape and attach an elastic chin strap.
