| Frankenstein's Laboratory (3-6) | |
| Supplies
Cooked spaghetti or wet sponge |
Directions 1. Make some signs saying "Please do not touch". 2. Place the items listed in sealed boxes, each of which has a cut-out slot into which children can slide a hand to fee the items. 3. Label the boxes as suggested below but do not list the actual ingredient on the label.
4. Be even more creative by turning a section of the classroom into a "laboratory" with lots of signs and a parent dressed like Frankenstein, who greets the students at the entrance and helps them tour the laboratory. |
| Frankenstein's Eyeballs (K-6) | |
| Supplies
Ping pong balls (one per child |
Directions 1. Previous to the party, paint eyeballs on the ping pong balls with permanent markers. 2. Form two teams and divide each team into two. 3. Have half of one team stand on one side of the room and the other half stand on the opposite side of the room. 4. Do the same for the second team. 5. Give the first child in each line on one side of the room a spoon and place an "eyeball" in it. 6. They must walk to the opposite side of the room and give the spoons to their teammates. They may no hold the eyeball with fingers or thumb. then they stay on that side and move to the back of their team's line. 7. The teammate who is now holding the spoon proceeds to the opposite side, gives the spoon to another teammate, then moves to the end of that line. And so it goes, back and forth, until everyone has a turn. 8. If the eye falls off the spoon, the child retrieves it and returns to the starting line on the side of the room where the child received the spoon. The first team to finish is the winner. 9. The kids enjoy having an eyeball to take home as a favor. So look for gum ball eyes, eyeball ping pong balls, and eyeball rubber balls when out shopping if you would rather buy them than make your own. |
| Frank (en-steins) (K-6) | |
| Supplies
Franks (hot dogs) |
Directions 1. Cut up franks (hot dogs) into pieces and have the kids toss them into (bee) steins placed beyond the starting line. 2. mark your line with masking tape setting the line further back or older grades. Variation: For older grades place a piece of a hot dog on a plastic spoon and let the kids, flip the tip of the spoon so the hot dog flies into the stein. Older kids love playing the game this way. |
| Frankenstein's Teeth (K-6) | |
| Supplies
Two spatulas |
Directions 1. Form two teams, then determine starting and finish lines. 2. Place an empty bowl at the finish line for ech team. 3. At the starting line, have a bowl full of beans (teeth) and a spatula for each team. 4. The first player on each team picks up the spatula and scoops as many beans as possible from the team's bowl. 5. The player walks quickly to the finish line and dumps the beans into the bowl. Whatever beans drop, stay on the floor. 6. The player runs back to his team and hands the spatula to the next player in line to perform the same task. 7. When the time allotted is over, count the beans in each team's bowl at the finish line to determine who has the most and is the winner. Each team member might take two or possible three turns depending on time. Optional: To increase the intensity, have the children spin in circles as they walk down to the finish line. They will have to concentrate or more beans will fall off their spatulas. |
| Frankenstein Says (K-6) | |
| Supplies No materials required |
Directions 1. Play this game like "Simon Says." making sure to give the older children more difficult commands. 2. One child is chosen to be Frankenstein. He stands a few feet in front of the other classmates (facing the classmates). 3. Frankenstein gives a command such as "Frankenstein says do jumping jacks". If Frankenstein just gives the command "do jumping jacks" without saying "Frankenstein says" any players who do the jumping jacks are eliminated. 4. When all players are eliminated the game is over. Depending on your time frame, let other players take turns being Frankenstein. 5. It is best to play this in larger spaces than classrooms--possibly i the gym or cafeteria, or outside on the playground. |
